So you’re at home (uni?) and you’re looking for some new music? Logic dictates that you jump on your favourite social networking sites to ask your friends what is good and new in the indie/nu-disco/electro world.
What if there was a better way?
Well, luckily for you there is; it’s called a music blog.
Now these little guys have been popping up like crazy in the last few years, following the ease of set-up that came with blogs.
The good news is that there is heaps and heaps out there, and that’s also the bad news.
So to navigate the perilous world of these blogs, there’s been a great indexing site that continues to get better and better the more people that use it.
It’s called The Hype Machine and it takes the tracks from hundreds of music blogs and puts them in one place.
So what? You say.
Well, the good news is that the site is driven primarily by users, as they can favourite a track. This means that the more users that favourite a track, the higher it gets ranked in popular. This cuts back the time of sifting through the dregs and you merely enjoy the cream at the top.
For even easier navigation check out the new The Hype FM Radio.
Enjoy the music guys!
P.S. Also here’s Disco Dust – easily my favourite music blog.
Posted: Thursday, January 21st, 2010. It can be found in Blog, Music. You can also download my RSS feed. And use this to trackback from your own site.
